Ottawa (May 1961 to September 1963)
In about March, 1961, our family left Falls Church for the last time and moved to Ottawa, when our father was posted to the U.S. Embassy in Ottawa. Below is a photo of Sandra with our mom as we left Falls Church and, below that, with our parents and me on our arrival in Ottawa.

On our arrival, we stayed at the Savoy Hotel on Sparks Street in Ottawa, while our parents searched for a home to rent.

Sandra was enrolled in grade 11 at Glebe Collegiate in Ottawa, and I was enrolled at Glashen Public School, where I completed grade 7.

Soon after we arrived in Ottawa, we drove to Wellesley to attend Pat’s graduation of College. Below right is a photo taken of Sandra at Sturbridge Village in Massachusetts, which we visited in June, 1961, on our way to the graduation, and with Pat and Mom at Pat’s graduation from Wellesley.

That summer, we moved to our new home in Rockcliffe Park, a suburb of Ottawa.

David was enrolled in grade 8 at Rockcliffe Park Public School but because of the disruptions in Sandra’s schooling the previous year, and with college admissions looming soon, Sandra was re-enrolled that fall in grade 11 at Glebe High School. The following year, David was enrolled in grade 9 at Lisgar Collegiate Institute in Ottawa, pictured below, and Sandra was enrolled in Grade 12. The photo below was taken when Sandra began grade 12 at Lisgar, for the 1962-63 year.

The photos below were taken in Ottawa in 1962-63, on a visit by Bill, who was attending Dartmouth College at the time.
