Taxco, Mexico (Summer 1965)

After Sandra completed her freshman year at St. Lawrence in 1965, she and David travelled to Mexico from the beginning of July to the end of August with the Experiment in International Living, headquartered in Putney, Vermont. Sandra was the leader of her group, who were billeted with Mexican families in Puebla. Below is one of a series of photos that were taken when Sandra was getting a photo for her passport. Below right is an article that appeared in an Ottawa newspaper reporting on Sandra’s participation in the program. While in Mexico, Sandra planned and organized trips, gave talks to promote mutual understanding, and generally acted as liaison between group members and host families.
